Challenges

The client’s technical safety and asset integrity team identified critical equipment at their FPSO facility that required Passive Fire Protection for 60 mins of jet fire (J60).

The key challenges included a tight project schedule, limited person on board (POB) allowance and not enough clearance (100mm) for installation of jackets in certain areas.

 

How did KLAY EnerSol expertise help

KLAY EnerSol improvised by conducting a 3D scan of the equipment during the site survey instead of manual measurements, this helped to generate accurate drawings for the detailed design engineering. Furthermore, the jackets that were fabricated following these drawings fitted very well and required minimal on-site modification.

KLAY EnerSol also managed its resources very well to execute the project to perfection. An experienced crew was selected for this project which was able to do on-site mechanical modifications, scaffolding, installing and modification of Passive Fire Protection jackets.

As a result the crew was able to install at a faster rate and finished ahead of schedule.

For future plans the client is considering Passive Fire Protection jackets for its other assets that require fireproofing.
