In high temperature ethylene cracking furnaces, seal failure at tube penetration openings can directly impact process stability, fuel efficiency, and long term asset integrity.

An ethylene cracker unit was experiencing persistent cold air ingress and unstable radiant section temperatures due to progressive deterioration of its existing sealing system. Repeated thermal cycling, oxidation exposure, and continuous tube movement had pushed conventional sealing materials beyond their limits.

KLAY EnerSol supplied a custom engineered furnace seal system utilizing 3M™ Nextel ceramic fibers, selected for their ability to maintain thermal stability above 1300°C while remaining mechanically flexible under dynamic operating conditions.
